Adeline Arendt, age 90, of New Rockford, ND, died Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, ND
Adeline Marie Dusek was born February 11, 1920, at Bremen, ND, the daughter of Frank R. and Emily (Subart) Dusek. She grew up near Bremen and graduated from Fessenden High School in 1937. She received her teaching certificate from Valley City Teacher’s College in 1939. Adeline taught 1 year in Sykeston, and then first and second grade, music and remedial reading in New Rockford, ND.
On June 14, 1943, Adeline was united in marriage to Francis Arendt at St. Joseph’s Church, Bremen. They lived and farmed on their farm north of Bremen. They lived on the home place for 60 years and in 1980 moved to New Rockford. Francis died on January 11, 1995. In 2003, she moved to the Heritage House, and in 2005, to Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd.
She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, Bremen Homemakers Club, Christian Mothers at St. Josephs, and St. John’s Prayer Group. Adeline was involved as Leader of Bremen Fairville Girls 4-H Club, was a mentor and judge of 4-H activities in the tri-county area for many years, and served as organist at St. John’s Church, New Rockford. She was well known for her jean quilts, cinnamon rolls and divinity.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Sister Andrea Arendt, PBVM, Fargo, ND, and Jean (Ralph) Dyrness, Valley City, ND; 1 son, Larry (Nancy) Arendt, New Rockford; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Adeline was preceded in death by her husband, 7 infant children, 2 infant grandchildren, 1 infant great grandchild, her parents, and 2 sisters, Hedwig Lange and Blanche Vogel.
