Alice Guler, age 94, of Cooperstown, ND, formerly of New Rockford, ND, died Saturday, November 26, 2011, at Cooperstown Medical Center.
Alice Gedrose was born October 29, 1917, in Eddy County, the daughter of Tom and Hilda (Iverson) Gedrose. She grew up on a farm outside of New Rockford with her older brother, Raymond, and her older sister, Lillie. She moved to Minneapolis during WWII, to work in the defense and hotel industries, but returned home to care for her aging parents after the war ended. Alice contracted Tuberculosis, but recovered and was united in marriage to Mr. Harry Peter Guler in New Rockford on July 21, 1956. Alice and Harry were married for 45 years. They lived in New Rockford, where Harry owned and operated the New Rockford Lockers. After retirement, Alice and Harry moved to an assisted living facility in Cooperstown, ND. Harry died at 90 years of age on July 13, 2001.
Alice was an avid reader. She could finish a book in a matter of hours. She enjoyed large print versions in later years, and had read every John Grisham novel ever written. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, New Rockford, where she taught Sunday School for many years while raising the Guler boys, Gregory and Bradley.
She is survived by her two sons, Greg (Kathy) Guler, Windsor, CO, Brad (Nancy) Guler, Hannaford, ND; 5 grandchildren, Stephanie (Justin) Cherney, Spokane Valley, WA, Chris Guler, Fargo, ND, Alex Guler, Fargo, ND, Travis (Vanessa) Guler, Warrensburg, MO, Alicia Kay Guler, Windsor, CO; 4 great grandchildren, Thomas & Noah Guler, and Wyatt & Addison Cherney.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, her brother Raymond and her sister Lillie.
