Arlene Phyllis Klocke, age 81, of New Rockford, ND, died Monday, November 14, 2011, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford.
Arlene Phyllis Bergrud was born August 1, 1930, at the family farm near Bremen, ND, the daughter of Melvin and Myrtle (Simonson) Bergrud. She was baptized and confirmed in Eden Lutheran Church, rural Bremen. Arlene attended the Black Hammer Country School and high school in Maddock, ND.
On October 21, 1948, Arlene was united in marriage to John Laverne Klocke at St. John’s Catholic Church in New Rockford. Arlene was later baptized at St. John’s. They lived and farmed near New Rockford, and Arlene also worked at New Rockford Hotel for 10 years, and for Fourth Corporation for 20 years.
She is remembered by her family as being an excellent cook who enjoyed baking and bread making. Arlene also enjoyed crocheting.
Arlene is survived by her husband John; 7 children, Sharon (Walter “Butch”) Lesmeister, New Rockford, Shirley Gross, Carrington, ND, Jerome (Vida) Klocke, Underwood, ND, Jeffrey (Julie) Klocke, Coleharbor, ND, Colleen “Gabbie” (Roger) Benson, Sheyenne, ND, Kenny Klocke, Rozet, WY, Merle (Kelly) Klocke, Silverthorne, CO; 12 grandchildren; Robbie Miller, Melanie Martin, Tara Baker, Jesse & Melissa Klocke, Shawn, Billy & Darin Klocke, Travis, Dusty & Chelsey Benson, Secia Klocke, 10 great-grandchildren; Brooklyn & Zachery Miller, Cody & Tyler Martin, Braeden & Ryan Baker, Ashlynn, Rylee, Aaden Benson, Kasen Klocke; two sisters Minerva (Elmer) Faul, Cathay, ND, Norma Kolstad, Sheyenne; four brothers Dennis (Venoie), Sheyenne, Eddie (Jeanette), Grants Pass, OR, Larry (Julie), Cedar Falls, Iowa and Gerald (Kathy), Brighton CO.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, “Little Laverne”; her parents, a son-in-law Danny Gross,
2 sisters Violet Bergrud and Lorraine Ystaas, and one brother Raymond Bergrud.
