Robert “Bob” Reimer, age 87, of Carrington, ND, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2011, at Carrington Heath Center, Carrington, ND.
Robert Douglas Reimer was born on March 29, 1924, the son of David and Ethel (Love) Reimer at Fargo, ND. He grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo Central High School. Bob served in the US Army from April 1943 to May 1945. He was attached to the 86th Mtn. Infantry Regiment of the 10th Mtn. Division. Bob was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for Meritorious Service in combat in the Apennine Mountains and Po Valley, Italy.
On June 12, 1949, Bob was united in marriage to LaRayne Jaster in Sheldon, ND. They shared their lives together in Fargo, and later moved to Carrington. Bob was employed as a surveyor for Ulteig Engineering for 13 years, and 30 years as an Engineer/Line Superintendent for Tri-County Co-op in Carrington, and was a Registered Land Surveyor in the state of ND.
He enjoyed collecting stamps, golfing, fishing, RC model plains, and was an oil painter and wood carver. Bob was a member of Masons, VFW, American Legion, Federated Church Choir and Men’s Club, Carrington’s City Councilman, and Foster County Water Board.
Robert will be remembered and deeply missed by his wife, LaRayne, Carrington; four sons, Douglas, Broomfield, CO, Paul (Christy), Carrington, ND, Randy (Debra) Washburn, ND, and Jeff, Bismarck, ND; a brother, Herbert (Mary Jo), Detroit Lakes, MN; a sister, Caroline (Tom) Craig, Naples, FL; two brothers-in-law, Mike Holman, Fargo, ND, and Milo Haas, Salem, OR; a sister-in-law, Shirley Reimer of WA; eight grandchildren, Matthew (Tara) Reimer, Fargo, Angela (Brent) Lucas, Bismarck, Jennifer (Andrew) Cook, Fargo, Amy Reimer, Fargo, Jared Reimer and Chad Reimer, both of Bismarck, Sarah Reimer and Nathan Reimer, both of Broomfield, CO; six great grandchildren, Josephine, Kalen, Ava, Bergen, Greyson and Lincoln; and several nieces and nephews.
He was greeted in heaven by his parents, David and Ethel; step-mother, Ruth Reimer; two brothers, Richard and Donald; three sisters, Jane Oveson, Ruth Ann Haas, and Mary Kay Holman; and a brother-in-law, Lloyd Oveson.
