Carmen Nyhusmoen, 87, died on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Bethany Retirement Home in Fargo, ND.

Lucille Carmen Odegaard was born August 1, 1924 to Syver and Anna (Kristiansen) Odegaard at home in Sheyenne, ND.  She grew up in Sheyenne and graduated in 1942 from Sheyenne High School.  She married Ole Nyhusmoen, Jr. at the First Lutheran Parsonage, Sheyenne, on August 15, 1942.

The Nyhusmoens were farmers in the Sheyenne community.  Carmen moved to The Waterford in Fargo, ND after the death of her husband, Ole, in 2001.  She moved to Bethany Retirement Home in June of 2011.

Carmen was preceded in death by her husband, Ole, her parents, sister Klara Holritz, brothers Ole, Arnold and Rolf Odegaard.

She is survived by her children, Rev. Ken (Susan Bohrer) Nyhusmoen, Ada, MN, Sandra (Gene) Amundson, Rothsay, MN, James (Lisa Evenson) Minnetrista, MN; and her grandchildren  she adored, Karl (Cindy) Nyhusmoen, Bemidji, MN, Andrea (Greg Sarles) Nyhusmoen, St. Louis Park, MN, Philip (Abbey) Nyhusmoen, Walker, MN, Mike (Alissa) Amundson, Eau Claire, MN, Dan Amundson, Rothsay, MN, Sarah (Jesse) Buck, Osceola, WI. Carmen’s family is so grateful for the loving care and friendship shown to her by the staff at The Waterford and Bethany Retirement Home on University.  Her last days were made especially meaningful by the tender care she received from the Bethany staff.
