Caroline Schagunn, age 87, of New Rockford, ND, died Monday, January 17, 2011, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, ND.
Caroline Guthmiller was born april 27, 1923, near Pettibone, ND, the daughter of Ludwig and Barbara (Moser) Guthmiller. She grew up near Pettibone and attended country school. Her mother died early and Caroline and her sister helped their father raise the family of 12 children. On March 11, 1943, Caroline was united in marriage to Lawrence E. Schagunn at her family farm near Pettibone. They lived and farmed in Fairville Township of Wells County near Cathay, ND. Lawrence semi-retired and they moved into New Rockford, ND. He died January 25, 1993. Caroline enjoyed crocheting doll dresses, collecting bells and playing bingo. She was active in AAL and was a member of the First Lutheran Church in New Rockford.
She is survived by 3 sons; Jerome (Connie) Schagunn, Carlsbad, CA, Larry (Caryl) Schagunn, New Rockford, ND, Michael (Pam) Schagunn, West Linn, OR, 1 daughter; JoAnn (Melvin) Watson, Vancouver, WA, 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and 1 brother; Ludwig Guthmiller, Jr., Pettibone, ND.
Caroline was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 6 brothers and four sisters.
