JoAnn Bartlett, age 78, of McHenry, ND, died Thursday, March 10, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family and under the care of Carrington Presentation Hospice.
JoAnn Kay Hoyt was born on July 15, 1932, the daughter of Kenny and Gena (Tufto) Hoyt at Carrington, ND. She was raised on a farm and attended school in McHenry.
On July 11, 1949, JoAnn was united in marriage to William Bartlett in New Rockford. They lived and farmed in the McHenry area their entire life. JoAnn took care of the housework, raised their family, and she also helped milk the cows.
She enjoyed baking, sewing, reading, some fishing, and word find puzzles and spending time with her family. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
JoAnn is survived by her husband, William; a son, Randy (Mary) of McHenry; six daughters, Julie (Gene) Ley, Bismarck, Geraldine (Dennis) Haugen, Carrington, Phyllis (John) Munson, Jamestown, Tammie (David) Briss, McHenry, Teresa (Hank) Zirbes, Kensal, Laura (Terry) Hovland, Wimbledon; twenty grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one brother, Monte Hoyt, Horace; four sisters, Kurene (Harold) Foss, Oakes, Phyllis Johanns, New Rockford, Mae Bartlett, Carrington, and Beatrice Hoyt, New Rockford.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenny and Gena Hoyt; a brother Rodney; her twin sister, Joyce Christiansen; a sister-in-law, Arlyce Hoyt; two brothers-in-law, Eugene Bartlett and Bob Johanns.
