Kiethel Schander, age 93, of Carrington, ND, died on Thursday, October 27, 2011, at Golden Acres Manor, Carrington, ND.
Kiethel Jane Lemert was born on April 6, 1918, the daughter of Frank and Amelia (Middledorf) Lemert at Lemert, ND, located northwest of Carrington. She was raised in the Carrington area and attended country school. Kiethel worked for J.C. Penney in Carrington.
On June 3, 1941, Kiethel was united in marriage to Clarence Schander at Red Lodge, Montana. They moved to Cathay, ND, in 1945 where they farmed before moving to Carrington in 1989. Clarence died on February 12, 1992. In 2001, Kiethel moved to Golden Acres Manor when she could no longer care for her home.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and taught Sunday School to 3 year olds for many years. Since moving to Carrington, Kiethel was a volunteer at Golden Acres until she became a resident. She enjoyed being a farm wife, gardening, caring for her yard, canning, and playing cards, with pinochle being her favorite.
Kiethel is survived by her two sons, Frank of Fergus Falls, MN and Craig (Brynn) of Libertyville, IL; four grandchildren, Gary, Tanya, Kate, and Joanna; one great granddaughter, Megan; one brother, Frank (Marlene) Lemert, Carrington, ND; one sister-in-law, Mary Lemert, Fort Wayne, IN; a brother-in-law, Gilbert (Garnet) Schander, Bowdon, ND
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; three brothers and three sisters.
