Louise Dahlquist

Louise Dahlquist, age 94, of New Rockford, ND, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford.


Louise Delia Probst was born July 28, 1916, at Brinsmade, ND, the daughter of Herman John and Delia Jane (Huffman) Probst. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school.


In 1927, her family moved to north of Phoenix, AZ, but returned to live at Minnewaukan, ND, in 1928. She graduated from Minnewaukan High School in 1934, and began working at the Benson County Court House. Louise moved to New Rockford in 1941, and was married to Hans Wollebeck in 1944, at New Rockford. They operated a dry cleaning shop in New Rockford until his death in 1967. Louise began working for Edgar Mattson, an attorney in New Rockford. Louise later married Arthur W. Dahlquist in New Rockford. Arthur died in 1981.


Louise was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church where she was church organist for 62 years. She was active in First Lutheran Circle and WELCA, was an active volunteer at Eddy County Senior Citizens, including helping with meals recently. Louise was a member of New Rockford Red Hat Society and also a member of Eastern Star.


Louise is survived by 2 stepdaughters Helen (Rev. Percy) Ensrude, Willmar, MN, Esther Marie Evans, Montevideo, MN; 2 stepsons Richard W. (Darlene) Dahlquist, Milwaukee, WI, Donald (Anise) Dahlquist, New Rockford; 27 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and a couple of great-great-grandchildren; 1 brother Glen Probst, Weiser, ID; 1 sister Marjorie Wolfe, Auburn, WA; 1 half sister Mona (Curtis) Jorgenson, Leeds, ND.

FUNERAL SERVICE: First Lutheran Church, New Rockford, ND

Sorry to read of the passing of your stepmother. I remember her and her involvement at FL Church. She was a great lady. I also remember Betty Barthels 4th grade class where Roger Mickelson and I competed for your attention during recess. Hope all is well with you and your family.
