Mae Sheets


Alice "Mae" Sheets (Reimers), age 83, of Carrington, N.D., died Monday, March 1, 2010 at her home. She passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer.


Mae was born November 16, 1926 in Melville, N.D., the daughter of Fernando and Alice Reimers (Walters). She grew up in Bordulac and graduated from Carrington High School in 1944. Mae attended North Dakota State University for 2 years and then transferred to Jamestown College graduating with a degree in education.


Mae was united in marriage to Jack Sheets at Bagley, MN, on December 26, 1950. They farmed in the Melville area until they moved to Carrington in 1965, where Mae taught school for 25 years.


Her community activities included Easter Star, Federated Guild, and serving a term on the church board.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, entertaining, gardening, playing bridge, and sitting in her back yard surrounded by her flowers with her dog, Duke. One of her favorite pastimes was being at the lake with her family.


Mae is survived by her two daughters, Mary (Tom) Carr, Carrington, N.D., Connie Kehl, Spiritwood Lake, N.D.; six grandchildren, Megan (Murray) Zook, Kingwood, TX, Scott (Shannon) Carr, Fargo, N.D., Ryan Carr, Fargo, N.D., Kevin Carr, Watertown, S.D., Crystal (Chris) Orman, Fargo, N.D., and Kelly (Neil) Qualey, Fargo, N.D.; and great-grandchildren, Mara, Maddox, and Macey Zook, Shawn and Brody Carr; and Cameron and Claire Qualey; three step grandchildren, two step great grandchildren; and her sister Pat Saunders, Bird Island, MN.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; son-in-law, Perry Kehl, granddaughter, Kerri Schulz; brothers, Steve, Robert, and Bill.


Funeral Service: Federated Church UCC/UMC

Interment: Carrington Cemetery, Carrington, ND
