Myron “Whitey” Mahler, age 61, of Oberon, ND, died Saturday, March 5, 2011, at his home.
Myron Dale Mahler was born September 5, 1949, in Bottineau, ND, the son of Herbert and Aleda (Kuhn) Mahler. He attended and graduated from Bottineau Schools. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Bottineau.
Whitey was a member of the United State Army in Vietnam, serving from 1971 to 1973, and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, as well as the National Defense Service Medal and the Infantry Service Medal.
Whitey married Coral Melin on November 15, 1975, in Louisiana. They lived and worked in Louisiana during the fall and winter months for several years and returned to North Dakota during the spring and summer months to farm in Sheyenne.
Myron is survived by his wife, Coral, Sheyenne; a son, Zac (Amanda) Mahler and their children, Anthony, Breanne, Karissa, and Odin, Minot, ND. He is also survived by his mother, Aleda Mahler, Harvey, ND; a brother, Ralph (Bernadette), Fargo, ND; sisters, Laura (Baldwin) Erickson, Maddock, ND, Gertrude Walker, Valley City, ND; sister-in-law, Marie Engel, McClusky, ND; brother-in-law, Harland Mears, Harvey, ND; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert, a brother Lawrence and a sister, Jeanette (Harland) Mears.
