Richard B. Kluth, age 88, of Carrington, ND, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Carrington Heath Center, Carrington, ND.

Richard Bernhard Kluth was born on May 27, 1922, near Arena, ND, the son of Wilham Richard and Pauline (Binder) Kluth. He grew up and attended school in that area. Richard worked as a farm laborer until he entered the US Army. During WWII, he was stationed in the Aleutian Islands.

On October 17, 1945, Richard was united in marriage to Lena Ruby Gross in Steele, ND. They lived in Tacoma, WA, for a year, where he was stationed before returning to ND. In 1947, they moved near Chaseley, ND, where they farmed on the Gross Family Farm. In 1950, they purchased their own ranch near Hurdsfield, ND and raised cattle. In 1960, they moved to Carrington, where he started his own business, Kluth’s Refrigeration. He retired in the late 1990’s. Lena died September 16, 1992.

Richard is survived by his three children, Richard D. Kluth, Jamestown, ND, Janice D. Kluth, Carrington, ND, Allen J. (Rebecca) Kluth, Bottineau, ND; one grandson, Christopher A. Kluth, McClusky, ND; two step granddaughters, Jamie and Kayla Lien, Mandan, ND; two step great-grandchildren, Tristen and Collin White; one brother, Ralph (Delores) Kluth, Fargo, ND; two sisters, Delores Pfaff, Tappen, ND, and Mable Weippert, Minot, ND; and numerous nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena; parents, and two brothers, Edward and Clifford.
