Ruth Cudworth, 99, of New Rockford, ND, formerly Sheyenne, ND, died on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford.
Ruth Irene Langley was born on January 3, 1913, at Warwick, ND, the daughter of James and Olga (Lange) Langley. She graduated from Warwick High School in 1931, and attended Valley City State College for a year and a half. Ruth then taught country school in Benson and Eddy Counties.
On December 5, 1936, Ruth was united in marriage to Reese Cudworth at Maddock, ND, in North Viking Church. They rented a farm east of Sheyenne, and later purchased the property. Reese died on December 23, 1977. Ruth stayed on the home place until 2001, when she moved to Heritage House Apartments in New Rockford. She entered Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in April of 2005.
Ruth was an active member of First Lutheran Church and Mary Circle at Sheyenne. She enjoyed belonging to the 3L Homemakers Club of Eddy County, and the Senior Citizens at Warwick. She was an avid gardener, and enjoyed making quilts for family and friends, as well as for mission projects through the church.
She is survived by one son, John Cudworth, Boulder, CO; 3 daughters, Ellen (Denis) Fillion, Kennewick, WA, Lorna (Russell) Hanson, Sheyenne, ND, Patricia (John) Kubat, Ponsford, MN; 9 granddaughters, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Also 2 sisters, Laura Cudworth and Beatrice Cudworth, both of Sheyenne; and 2 brothers, Frank (Lois) Langley, Sheyenne, and Byron (Delores) Langley of Warwick, ND.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Paddy Peterson,
3 infant grandchildren, her parents, one brother, James Langley,
