Joyce Topp, age 90, of Jamestown, ND, formerly of Carrington, ND, died Monday, May 25, 2009, at Hi-Acres Manor in Jamestown.
Joyce Evelyn Johnson was born on June 19, 1918, the daughter of August and Christine (Person) Johnson, at Glenfield, ND. She was raised and attended school in Glenfield, went to Valley City State and graduated from Mayville State University.
On April 12, 1943, Joyce married Gerald Anderson at Jamestown, ND. She taught for 27 years and was a church organist for many years. Gerald died on January 31, 1970.
Joyce married Wallace Topp on June 7, 1980 at Grace City, ND. They moved to Carrington in the 80’s. Wallace died May 15, 1991.
The greatest love in her life was her family. She loved music, the beauty of nature at all seasons, her former students, and life. She enjoyed fishing, bird watching, MN Twins, and was an avid follower of her grandchildren’s sports activities.
Joyce is survived by her two sons, Charles (Karen) Anderson, Streeter, ND and James (Judy) Anderson, Sutton, ND; one daughter, Claudia (Terry) Hinrichs, Barlow, ND; two step-sons, Roger Topp, New Rockford, and Raymond (Patti) Topp, Grace City, ND; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; one son, Perry; three sisters, Alice, Ruth, and Eileen; one brother, Arthur; and one foster brother, Marvin.
