Mary Tennyson

Mary Minnie Tennyson, age 93, of Carrington, ND, died Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Golden Acres Manor, Carrington, ND.

Mary Minnie Pahl was born September 5, 1915, the daughter of William and Anna (Lemke) Pahl, on the family farm in Portland Township, Duel County, Clear Lake, SD. She was raised and attended country school in Portland Township and Revillo High School.

Mary was united in marriage to Thomas Tennyson on December 16, 1937, in Revillo, SD. Following their marriage, they lived in Montana, Minnesota, SD and ND, where Thomas did grain elevator construction for 18 years. They moved to Carrington, ND in 1956. Mary cooked at the Prairie Inn and Chieftain Restaurants in Carrington for several years. Thomas died October 23, 1984.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and Senior Citizens. Mary enjoyed canning, cooking, sewing and dancing.

Mary is survived by one son, Thomas (Darlene) Tennyson, Carrington, ND; one daughter, Karen Henne, New Brighton, MN; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one sister,Tena Novy, Sioux Falls, SD.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; her parents; five sisters, Annie, Hertha, Hattie, Ella, and Emma; and two brothers, William and Fred.
