Shirley Hofer, age 58, of Sheyenne, ND, died Thursday, April 16, 2009, at Carrington Health Center, Carrington, ND.
Shirley Berdahl was born July 15, 1950, at McVille, ND, the daughter of Vernon and Alyce (Nelson) Berdahl. She grew up in Minot, ND, and graduated from Minot High School. She then worked in Minot until moving to Sheyenne, ND. Shirley was united in marriage to Donald “Donny” Hofer on January 17, 1974 in Sheyenne, ND. They lived on a farm east of town where Donny farmed. They also operated the Longhorn Saloon in Sheyenne before moving to Yakima, WA, where they worked for Boeing. They later returned to Sheyenne were Shirley worked at many area places including the Sheyenne School, North American Bison Co-op, Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, The Bison Grill and Rockford Café.
Shirley was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Sheyenne and Sheyenne VFW Auxiliary.
She is survived by one sister, Twila (Wayne) Adair, Seabrook, TX; seven brothers, James (Kimberly) Berdahl, Towner, ND, Emil (Jolene) Berdahl, Douglas, ND, Ronald Berdahl, Gordon (Debra) Berdahl, Vernon (Edna) Berdahl, and Otto Mikkelson, all of Melborne, FL, Duane Mikkelson, Spring, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, a step-father Russell Mikkelson, and her husband, Donald.
