Leo Henry Zink, age 87, departed this life on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, North Dakota, entering eternal rest.
Leo H. Zink was born April 14, 1937 in Carrington, North Dakota. He was the only child born to Mary Dorothy Van Horn and Henry John Zink. He attended the Bordulac school & enjoyed being a part of the basketball team. Following graduation in 1956, he attended the North Dakota State College of Science, Wahpeton, North Dakota, where he studied diesel mechanics. Leo moved to Kenosha, WI & worked for a very short time installing draperies. On February 2, 1958, Leo married Lola Grace Townsend in Matteson, Ill. They returned home & were employed by Steve Reimers until moving back to the Zink farmstead where he farmed & ranched alongside his father, Henry, & where he & Lola raised their family of four children. Leo & Lola raised quarter, paint, & miniature horses, professionally showing horses in the tri-state area. Leo faithfully assisted Lola behind the scenes. This included supporting Lola in her endeavor with the Zink Music & Western Wear business. Leo learned to play the bass guitar, Lola being his teacher, & was an integral part of Lola’s 3 Tunes. Together they played & sang all across North Dakota.
He served on the North Dakota Paint Horse Board of Directors for many years. Leo was a Foster County Farm Bureau member as well & was a Dekalb dealer. In later years, he worked at Rosenau Equipment/Implement.
Leo & Lola spent many winters at Alamo Paradise Acres in south Texas. They enjoyed soaking up the sun, meeting & visiting with people, & involving themselves with daily musical jams. Leo enjoyed assisting folks with the club house activities, preparing for and playing shuffleboard each Friday morning, as well as playing Bingo every Sunday evening.
Leo is survived by a son, Terrance (Terri Jo) Zink, Princeton, MN; daughter, Pamela (Kenneth) Roberts, Clayton, NM; daughter, Karla (Mitchell) Lura, Carrington, ND; and son, Kevin (Holli) Zink, Carrington, ND; 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Zink, on May 16, 2013.
Leo’s Visitation will be Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 9:30AM-10:30AM followed by a Funeral Service at 10:30AM all at Grace Lutheran Church, Carrington.
His Burial will be at the Carrington Cemetery.

Our deepest condolences to all the families. Leo was a friend and long time neighbor. Special music in Heaven now with he and Lola.
We are so very sorry for the loss of your Dad. Leo was our neighbor in Texas at Alamo Paradise Acres, he was always willing to help with events at the Rec Hall and he also cleaned the shuffle board courts for all of us. Music was a big part of your parents life and after your Mom passed, Leo was the first to arrive at the Jams to help set-up. Great neighbor.
