Amelia College

 

 

Amelia College age 92, of Jamestown, ND, formerly of Carrington, ND, went to her heavenly home,  Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.

 

Amelia Gaub was born on August 28, 1922, in Wing, ND, the daughter of Jacob and Maggie (Keller) Gaub.  She grew up in rural Robinson, ND, and attended country school, after which she became gainfully employed.

 

On August 28, 1943, Amelia was united in marriage to Harold C. College at Carrington. She worked as a housekeeper for many years, and then was employed as a cook at the Carrington Public Schools from 1963 to 1995. On their retirement they moved to Jamestown, ND, and there she was employed by The Heritage Center as a housekeeper for several years.  Harold passed away in 2001. She became a resident of Rock of Ages, Jamestown, in November 2012.  

Amelia had been involved with the VFW Auxiliary, and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, both of Carrington.  Her favorite past times were embroidering, crocheting and quilting, and spending time with her family.

 

Amelia is survived by one son Rodney (Wanda) of Cooperstown, ND; two daughters, Carol (William) Stringer of El Paso, Texas, and Patty (Evore) Thomas of Carrington; four grandchildren, Kim (Mick) DeRudder, William (Camille) Norton, Brian (Susie) Thomas, and Kaitlin College; eight great-grandchildren, Adrian Moralez, Katrina (Desmond) Heck, Shalisha, Casey, and Brinley Norton, Paige, Brooke, and Jessalyn Thomas; three great-great-grandchildren, Mason and Sierra Moralez, and Ryden Heck; one sister Betty White, of Olympia, Washington; two sisters-in-law, Argie Belrude, and Alice Prosser; and many nieces and nephews.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold; a grandson, Craig Norton; four brothers, Otto Gaub, John Gaub, Jacob Gaub and Herbert Gaub; and three sisters, Helen Sales, Lillian Thornton, and Irene Whipple.
