Tillie Collier, age 94, of New Rockford, ND, died on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford, ND. Tillie was born on December 21, 1921, at rural Cathay, ND, the daughter of John and Thekla (Bryne) Gedrose. She attended school at Fairville Township, Wells County and was baptized and confirmed in Stavenger Lutheran Church. She worked as a housekeeper in Carrington and rural Brantford before going to Chicago to work during WWII. She returned to the area in 1945, and continued to work as a housekeeper for several more years. Tillie was united in marriage to H. Glenn Collier on December 15, 1951, in New Rockford. They farmed in Columbia Township, north-west of Grace City, ND. Glenn died in 1961, and she continued to farm until moving to New Rockford in 1981. Upon moving to town she started working at City Hospital in Housekeeping until the hospital closed. Tillie and Glenn had four children, Cindy, Bill, Robert, and Glenda. She had a deep love for her family. Tillie also enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, especially her flowers, doing crafts and reading. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church and belonged to the Martha Circle. She also was a member of the Columbia Homemaker Club. Tillie is survived by two daughters, Cindy, Fargo, ND, and Glenda and husband, Larry Danduran; two sons, Bill (Josolyn) and Robert (Andra), all of New Rockford; 10 grandchildren, Heather (Justin) Messmer, Boise, ID, Heidi (Brett) Lehner, Misawa, Japan, Chris (Karla) Haugen and Mike (Kaley) Haugen, both Dickinson, ND, Thad Collier, Marcus(Kristen Johnson) Ulrich, and Sydney Ulrich, all of Fargo, ND, Ashley (Seth) Metcalf, Otsego, MN, Sara (Jonny) Borchardt, Edgar, WI, and Nate (Alissa Bachmeier) Collier, New Rockford, and 19 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Gerda Backman and Vivian (Daniel) Rimmereid, both New Rockford, and Julia Gross, Fargo; one sister-in-law, Barbara Gedrose, Fort White, FL, and many nieces and nephews. Tillie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, Olga (Clarence) Sielig and Erna Gedrose; two brothers, Emil (Bernadine) Gedrose and John Gedrose, and other brothers-in-law, Charles Collier, Don Backman and Leroy Gross.
