Dolores Doeling

Dolores Doeling, age 79, of Carrington, ND, passed on to meet her Savior on Friday, January 24, 2014, at Golden Acres Manor in Carrington, ND, where she had resided since November 2013.

Dolores Ann Pedersen was born on August 8, 1934, the daughter of Albert and Sophie Emelia “Tootie (Fredrickson) Pedersen on the homestead in Bordulac. Dolores was one of four children and grew up with brothers, Darryl and Dalton, and a sister, Marilyn. She was raised in the Kensal and Bordulac areas and attended schools in those areas where she enjoyed playing basketball. She graduated in 1952, from Bordulac High School.

On November 27, 1953, Dolores was united in marriage to Edwin Louis Doeling in Kensal. From that union came 3 children, Gary, Barbara and David.

She was well known for her singing ability and sang for many church services, weddings, funerals, and get-togethers. Dolores was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Carrington. She sang in their choir for most of her membership. She taught many years of Sunday School, Bible School, and assisted with many Christmas programs. Dolores’ faith was strong and she supported her church in any manner she could.

Dolores’ greatest joys were her grandchildren, and she had been able to hug or hold all 22 grandchildren prior to her death. She always tried to be at events where she could be with them; birthdays, Sunday School, school programs, baptisms, and confirmations. She would get very excited at sporting events and if someone was sitting next to her, the person’s arm or leg was sure to be grabbed.

She was a talented massage therapist. Dolores attended school in Kennewick, WA, and graduated in 1990. She retired in 2012, after a severe fall prevented her from continuing. Her hands were strong and she was well known for her deep Swedish massage.

Dolores is survived by her husband Ed; two sons and one daughter, Gary (Mariann) Doeling, Barbara Scheen, and David (Clarine) Doeling, all of Carrington; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by one sister, Marilyn Norsby of Kent, WA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Tootie Pedersen; 2 brothers, Darryl and Dalton; and one son-in-law, Dave Scheen. It is with great comfort, they will all be together.

In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials to be given to Carrington Health Center Diabetes Support Group.

Message: Dear Marilyn and family,

I was sorry to hear of Delores' passing. I last saw her at my dad's funeral. It was wonderful to see her after so long, and she was as pleasant and comforting as I had always remembered her to be. As I write this, I am also remembering how you and I used to walk to school together in New Rockford and how hospitable you and your husband were to Bev and me many years ago. Just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you.
