Donna Dunn

Donna Dunn, age 82, of Carrington died peacefully in her home on Thursday November 6, 2014, under the care of Hospice.

Donna Faye Konok was born on July 3, 1932, in Carrington, North Dakota to John and Bessie (Jones) Konok. The family lived in Pingree, North Dakota until 1942, and then moved to Carrington, where Donna attended grade school, and graduated from Carrington High School in 1950. After graduation, she worked at The Little Store in Carrington, Rainbow Gardens, and as a bookkeeper for Solar Gas.

In 1955, she married the love of her life, Jim Dunn and they made their home in Carrington. Donna worked at C & G Furniture as a bookkeeper until 1967, when she took a job as Teller at First National Bank. She worked there until the bank closed in 1980, and then for FDIC until 1982, she also worked at ASCS for a time. Donna's greatest personal achievement was serving as Municipal Judge of Carrington for 30 years. On September 17th, 2013, at age 81, she retired.

Donna was a past member of the Fine Arts Club, VFW Auxiliary, CHC Auxiliary, ND Municipal Judges Association, and board member of the Carrington Library.

Donna loved her country, and her community, and was always the first in line to support a cause. She had a deep religious faith, and a rich life because of it. She especially enjoyed her first cup of coffee in the morning, and reading the paper. She was always a lady, full of strength and grace, kindness, and generosity. Donna was selfless, and gave to others first. She touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. She was content spending the last few months of her life quietly in her home with her daughter and grand dog Sean! She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by one daughter Jamie Dunn, Carrington, a niece Rosemary Frey, Pierce Nebraska, several special cousins, sister-in laws, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters, and two brothers

Message: Dear Jamie,

I just heard of your mother's passing.  Even though it has been many years since I visited ND, I have many fond memories of Aunt Donna, Uncle Jimmy and you.  Yes, laughing and teasing was involved. I am sorry for your loss and please know I am thinking of you.

Message: I was fortunate to work with Donna during my stint as City Attorney in 97-98, and Donna was a top-flight municipal judge armed with more common sense than any law-trained judge I've encountered.  She and Jim went out of their way to make me- a young, fresh out of law school attorney- feel welcome.  Just a wonderful person and a true asset to Carrington.  My deepest condolences to her family.

We are sad that your mother is gone, but so glad for her wonderful life. She was a true blue friend to my folks and all of us. I know her last days were not easy, but glad she had you to be there for her. I will never forget your folks, and all the kindness and love and laughter they shared with our family. Thinking of you as you adjust to the new reality.
