Florence "Bunnie" Erickson

Florence Alvira (Younger) Erickson, 92, of Sheyenne, ND, died Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, ND.

Florence “Bunnie Younger was born February 7, 1920, to Carl and Elvira (Skog) Younger in Kidder, SD. She moved with her family at a young age to Campbell, MN. She graduated from Campbell High School and went on to Dakota Business College in Fargo, ND. After WWII began, she moved with some girlfriends to Washington D.C. and worked in the War Department for several years. After the war she returned to Fargo and worked as a secretary. She also met the love of her life, Clarence Erickson, at a dance in Fargo. Clarence, from Sheyenne, was working for the winter in Fargo.

On October 31, 1948, Bunnie and Clarence were married in Fargo, and returned to a lifetime of farming just north of Sheyenne. After retiring from farming they moved into the town of Sheyenne and then spent over 20 years wintering in Apache Junction, AZ.

After Clarence passed away in 2003, Bunnie continued to live in Sheyenne for several years before moving to the Heritage House and later the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, both in New Rockford, ND.

Bunnie was a member of First Lutheran Church in Sheyenne where she was active in Ladies Aid, Circle and Sunday School. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Rocks and Rills homemaker club. She enjoyed a big garden on the farm raising berries, vegetables and flowers. Her produce, once harvested, was neatly labeled and placed on the shelf or in the freezer. Her other labor of love was spending countless hours in the kitchen where she loved to cook and bake to the delight of her family.

She is survived by two sons, Lynn (Charlotte Franks) of Sheyenne and Kevin (Nancy Gullikson) of Eagan, MN, three grandchildren, Tanner Erickson of Eagan, MN, Paul Erickson of Fargo, ND, and Ahna Erickson of Scottsdale, AZ; two sisters-in-law: Viola (Erickson) Jordre of Oberon, ND, Eileen Younger of Fargo, ND; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, her parents and her 5 brothers: Gus, Ben, Ed, Ray, and Burt.
