Ellen Fitzgerald, age 94, of New Rockford, ND, died Monday, March 27, 2017, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford.

Ellen A. Fitzgerald was born July 21, 1922, to Andrew and Nathallie (Harnden) Fitzgerald at Arcata, CA. Ellen had 2 sisters, and she was the youngest of the 3 girls. Ellen graduated high school and then attended college in Sacramento, CA, for Cosmetology. After school, she worked as a cosmetologist for a short time.

In 1947, Ellen married Melvin Hale in Alco, NV. They lived in northern California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Alaska together, and Ellen was a housewife. Ellen and Melvin were married for 47 years, before divorcing in the 1990’s. Ellen moved to New Rockford, and entered Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd on November 11, 2009.

Ellen did not have any children. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and was very active in her church. Ellen enjoyed reading, embroidery, sewing, and gardening.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, and her 2 sisters.

A short Public Visitation will be held Sunday, April 2nd at Evans Funeral Home, from 3PM - 3:30PM

Graveside Services: Will be held at a later date when conditions at the cemetery have improved.
