Florence A. Fugleberg

Florence A. Fugleberg, age 86, of New Rockford, ND, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Carrington Health Center, Carrington, ND.

Florence Alice Messner was born in rural Hamar, ND on April 9, 1928, the daughter of George and Idelia (Rud) Messner.  She grew up on the family farm and attended country school at Colvin Township, and 8th and 9th grades at Lake Washington Township.  Following school she worked at Campbell Ranch near Warwick. 

Florence and Vern M. Fugleberg were united in marriage on January 16, 1947, at the First Lutheran Church Parsonage in New Rockford.  They farmed in the Brantford area for one year, and then purchased a farm in Tiffany Township.  They farmed there until 1955, when they moved to Longview, WA, for 8 years.  They returned to New Rockford in 1963, where they farmed and raised a family.  In 1978, they moved to Beulah, ND.  In 1985, they returned to New Rockford and managed Rockford Arms Apartments until 1995. Vern died on February 18, 2004.  Florence moved to Westview Apartments in November of 2012.

Her hobbies were doing puzzles, working crosswords, playing cards, and other activities.  She enjoyed going to the Eddy County Senior Center. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, New Rockford, and a member of Tiffany Township Ladies Aid.

She is survived by one son Randy (Conni) Fugleberg, New Rockford and one daughter Nancy Hallahan, Tyler, TX; 2 grandchildren, Patrick (Lindsey) Schmid, Devils Lake, ND, Lea (Lance) Quam, Bismarck, ND; 9 great-grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Allen (Ellen) Messner, Sheyenne, Harvey (Eleanor) Messner, Hamar. 

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one sister Isabelle, and one brother Lyle.

Message: We were very fortunate to have met Grandma Florence. Such a wonderful woman who would do anything for anyone. We absolutely adored her and loved spending time with her. She will be greatly missed and may she rest in peace. Prayers and hugs to her loving family!
