Lee Garrett

 

Lee R. Garrett, age 68, of Carrington, ND, was called home in the early hours of Monday, June 13, 2016, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, ND.

    

Lee Ray Garrett was born on July 12, 1947, in Harvey, ND, the son of Travis and Alice Sowers (Erfle). He attended school in Fessenden and went on to achieve a welding degree at a trade school.  He was employed at Massman Automation and owned Garrett Auto Body in Fargo, ND.   

 

Lee was united in marriage to Gloria Reutter on October 4, 1964. Together they had three children, RoxAnn, Shelley, and Bridget, and divorced in later years.

    

On June 18, 1977, Lee was united in marriage to Linda Rae Sanders. They raised a family of three children, Kenny, Michael and Sarah. After battling cancer, Linda passed away on March 21, 2005.

   

Lee and Gloria were reunited in marriage on July 18, 2005. Together they combined their families and added Wade, Dawn, Kevin, Curtis, and Michelle; bringing their family total to 11 children, 30 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Family gatherings and holidays were filled with laughter, fun and games.

   

Lee enjoyed rebuilding and collecting old cars, riding his motorcycles, playing guitar and singing.  He could often be found woodworking, cooking and spending time with his family and friends. He was known to make the world’s best banana bread!

 

He is survived by his wife Gloria; his mother Alice Gross, both of Carrington; brothers Melvin (Sandy) Gross, David Sowers, and Freddy Sowers; sisters Sharon (Jerry) Hatfield, Julie (David) Ayers, Brenda (Jack) Shoemaker, and Audry Pratt; his children RoxAnn (Joel) Willey, Shelley Flick, Bridget Reimers, Kenny (Mandie) Garrett, Micheal (Angela) Garrett, Sarah (Eric) Korte, Wade (Dalayna) Pierce, Dawn (Jason) Sawrey, Kevin (Debra) Pierce, Michelle Wobbema, Curtis (Holly) Pierce, 30 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

   

Lee was preceded in death by his wife Linda; father Travis Sowers; step father Kenneth Gross; Uncle Leao Erfle; grandparents Jacob and Elizabeth Erfle; and one grandchild Austin Flick.
