George Riggle

George Riggle, age 81, of Sheyenne, ND, died Sunday, February 6, 2011, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford, ND.

George Riggle was born March 29, 1929 in Eddy County, near Sheyenne, the youngest child born to Charles “Charlie� and Elisabeth (Kramer) Riggle. George was baptized at St. John’s Catholic Church in New Rockford, and attended country school between Sheyenne and New Rockford. He began farming with his father, later purchasing the farm. On May 29, 1962, George was united in marriage to Donna Mae “Bunny� Miller at Devils Lake, ND. They lived for a time on the family farm. In the early 1970’s, he rented out his land and moved to Sheyenne, and went to work at Farmers Union Oil Co. He then worked for many Sheyenne area farmers until his retirement. George & Donna later divorced, but remained friends.

George loved to play cards, enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and also had a cherished collection of old records of music from the 50’s.

His is survived by one daughter, Joni Riggle of Sheyenne; two sons Kevin Riggle and David “Dobbs�(Arliss), both of Sheyenne; three grandsons, Mark and Jordan Riggle, Derrick Chaske, one granddaughter, Felicia Sherman; one adopted grandson, Aiden; two great-grandsons Dominick and Tyler Riggle, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

George was preceded in death by his wife Donna; his siblings: Edward, Roy, Elizabeth “Betty� Satterlund Buckhouse; Marie Severson, Olene Lommen, Martha Johnson Collar, and three that died in infancy: John , Mildred, William, and one grandson, Charles John.

Message: Kevin, Dobbs n Joanie, We r sorry for your lost. It was hard to except when we got the news about George going home to the Lord. Your father and I (jeanie) got to spend sometime together awhile back n it was very nice to meet an interesting man. I charished the time that i spend with him, and our little field trips to the doctor appts we did, the visits we had. I wish i watched all the movies that he sent home with me to watch or all the books that he suggest that i read. I also want to thank the Lord for the time i got 2 spend with him, i want to say for a big man came a big heart....Sincerely, Jeanie and Terese. Thank You George Riggle for being apart of my live, even if only for a brief time.
