Fern Georgeson

Fern Georgeson, age 85, of New Rockford, ND, died peacefully at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd on Saturday, November 8, 2014, surrounded by her family.

Fern Lillian Kruger was born on March 21, 1929, in rural Sheyenne, North Dakota to John and Bernice (Bjugstad) Kruger. The family lived on a farm near Sheyenne where Fern attended school, and graduated from Sheyenne High School in 1947.

After graduation Fern went to Mayville State University to earn her teaching certificate. She taught elementary school at Minnewaukan, Williston and Cando. Following her eight years of teaching here in North Dakota she moved to Minneapolis, MN.  Fern taught at St. Louis Park and continued her education, earning her Bachelors of Science degree. On June 29th of 1972, she married the love of her life Dean Georgeson. Fern was proud to have taught school for 42 years before retiring from the school systems. Fern’s love of teaching was evident when she spoke of the children that she taught.

Fern had a gift of painting; she took art classes while living Minneapolis. She was a wonderful cook and appreciated the work that went into a well-kept home.  Her joy of reading continued from teaching into her own daily passion.
