Gloria Jenson

Gloria Jenson, age 86, of New Rockford, ND, died Thursday, January 5, 2012, in her daughters home in
New Rockford, ND.


Gloria Lorriane Ulness was born October 10, 1925, in Sheyenne, ND, the daughter of Nels and Helga (Simonson) Ulness. She attended school in New Rockford and was united in marriage to Sylvester Jenson on April 10, 1943. Wes and Gloria spent many years in the New Rockford area raising their two girls, Sharon and Jerri.


She worked for the Swift Processing Plant and Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd for some years before beginning at Busy Bee in New Rockford. She enjoyed meeting many people. Gloria retired from Busy Bee and began painting with her sister and niece until the age of 81. In 2009, she moved in with her daughter, Jerri and son-in-law, Scott. She resided there until her death.


Bowling was the love of her life. She was a member of Wonder Lanes bowling team. Her greatest thrill was winning the Seniors tourney from North Dakota and bowling in Reno, NV. She was accompanied by Sharon and Jerri, they had the time of their lives together and will never forget getting lost at Circus Circus.


Gloria is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Don) Norton and Geraldine (Scott) Severs, both of New Rockford, a brother-in-law, David Melhoff, Bismarck, ND, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Wes; her parents, Nels and Helga; 6 sisters, Marion, Bernice, Vivian, Dorothy, Marllain, Violet; 5 brothers, Helmer, Norman, Odean, Curtis, Chester.
