Blanche Harrison

Blanche Catherine (Noye) Harrison, wife of the late Reuel Harrison, died peacefully January 13, 2013 at Golden Acres Manor. She was born November 8, 1921 in Upsalquitch, New Brunswick, Canada, daughter of Thomas and Eliza Henrietta Noye.

Blanche graduated from Bangor (Maine) High School in 1939 and became a citizen of the United States as a young woman. She attended Husson College, and during World War II went to work for the war effort at Bath Naval Shipyard.

Blanche had a long career for the City of Bangor Personnel Department. When she retired, she moved to her birthplace, Upsalquitch, to the house which was built by her mother's stepfather. The house had no modern conveniences, but was soon beautifully brought up to date without losing any of the original style. She worked her own farm as a hobby she loved.

Blanche and Reuel met in Maine during WWII, and after life took them in different directions, they reunited and married in 2001.

She is survived and will be greatly missed by her son, Timothy Rogers, and her grandson, Thomas Rogers and his wife Sarah, her great-grandson Jeremy, her sister, Vera Byard, her brother, Boyd Noye and his wife Carmen, and many friends and family in Canada, her step-granddaughters Kelli Cotton and Kristi Baird and their husbands, her dear friends Edith Murray and Patty Powers, and many nieces and nephews.

Blanche was preceded in death by her husband Reuel, her parents, her brother Raymond, and her sisters Viola Hawkins, Asta Blanchard, Olivia Kneale, and Norma Graffam.

Friends are invited to say good-bye at the Federated Church, 775 2nd Street North Carrington, ND at 1:30 on Friday, May 17, 2013. This will be immediately followed by a burial service next to her husband at Melville Cemetery. Refreshments will be served at the Federated Church after the burial.

Message: My name is Valerie (Evenskaas) Seman. i am the youngest daughter of Blanche's sister, Olivia. I remember traveling with my parents and sister ( by car) with Aunt Blanche and her grandson Tommy in 1979 returning Tommy to Seattle after a summer visit. She then traveled on with us to Sunnyvale CA to see Ollie and Stan's first grandson! Had a lot of laughs with her in the car! Also remember some of the 'sisters' reunions...she was a hoot!
