Harry Kaul

Harry Kaul, age 85, of New Rockford, ND, died Thursday, January 5, 2012, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, ND.


Harry August Kaul was born January 6, 1926, in Wells County, ND, the son of Christ and Barbara (Krause) Kaul.


He served in the US Army in the South Pacific during World War II and was discharged in 1946. He served in the Philippines and in Korea.


In his lifetime, Harry worked for farmers, in coal mines and drove truck. He also worked for several contractors around the state on road construction.


On September 1, 1951, Harry was united in marriage to Jennie “Dolly� Dockter in New Rockford. Dolly passed away on March 25, 2011.


He loved spending time with his grandchildren, working in his shop, making toys for the grandchildren using auto parts. He also loved gardening, yard work, watching westerns, playing cards, attending auction sales and caring for the two dogs (Winston and Charlie).


Harry was a member of the Eagles Club, Aerie 2923 for 53 years, the American Legion Post #30 for 39 years, and a current member of the VFW.


Harry is survived by five children; Gene Kaul, New Rockford, ND, Leonard (Deb) Kaul, New Rockford, ND, Ruby Simms and friend John Benton, Malvern, IA, Patty (Jim) Dennis, New Rockford, ND, Joan (Robert) Marquez, Bismarck, ND; eleven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolly; parents, Christ Kaul and Barbara Thueson; brother, William (Bill) and two sisters, Hilda Erman and Viola Anderson.
