Helen Dungan

Helen Dungan, age 90, of New Rockford, ND, died Saturday, November 20, 2010, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, ND.

Helen Irene Wipperling was born July 17, 1920 in Randolf, Nebraska to Fred and Freda (Thaden) Wipperling. They moved to a farm in North Dakota in 1921. The family farm was located in Columbia Township, Eddy County, where she attended country school. She married Lawrence Dungan at New Rockford on October 5, 1938, and moved to their own farm in the same area. They lived there until they retired and moved to New Rockford. Lawrence died on September 13, 1994. Helen was a member of the First Lutheran Church in New Rockford, she was active in Homemakers Club, Girls 4-H Club and her church groups. She enjoyed dancing, baking, sewing, traveling and her greatest joy was her family.

Helen is survived by one son, Richard (Karen) Dungan, Mankato, MN; two daughters; Dorothy (Ken) Martens, Nicollet, MN, and Conni Jo (Randy) Fugleberg, New Rockford, ND; a son-in-law, Joseph Troske, New Rockford; ten grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; one sister, Fay Goodno, Woodbury, MN; one brother, Wilfred “Bud� (Bernice) Wipperling, Carrington, ND; one sister-in-law, Marliss Wipperling, Wadena, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence; a daughter, Irene Troske; two grandsons, Mark and Brian Troske; two brothers, Harley and Wendell Wipperling; and a brother-in-law, Paul Goodno.

Message: Lawrence and Helen were best friends of my parents. I have many fond memories of times spent with them and their family. I will always remember Helen for her kind smile and kind ways. It is Thanksgiving Day as I write this and while it is a difficult time for the family, I know they are thankful for having had Helen for as long as they did. Message: I didnt know Helen but I am Best Friends with her grand daughter Amanda Von Behren. Amanda spoke about her grandmother with so much love and joy you can tell when we spoke on the phone that she always had a smile on her face when she talked about her granny. From the way Amanda spoke about her granny you know she was a very funny lady and loved so much . I have heard many stories about Helen and I really wish I could of known her . I tell Amanda from looking at picture of her and her grandmother that she looks just like her and that makes her smile . My heart goes out to the family and friends of Helen you will be missed and always be loved .
