Judith "Judy" Johnson

Judy Johnson, age 79, of Carrington, ND, died Monday, July 31, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Judith Ann Hewitt was born January 4, 1938, in Sykeston, ND, the daughter of Leslie and Ethel (Legacie) Hewitt. She grew up and attended school in Sykeston.

On January 20, 1956, Judy was united in marriage to Clyde Johnson in Bowdon, ND. They lived and farmed in rural Bowdon all their lives until retirement. She was a hard working woman and always had lunch ready for everyone. She made sure everyone was taken care of both the men in the field and the kids before school started. In 1997 they retired and moved into Carrington, but made many trips out to the farm. They spent the winters from 1981-1996 in Las Vegas, NV. Clyde died November 5, 2016.

Judy was a strong woman, having cancer for 5 years she never once complained. When making her trips for treatment she had her favorite stops along the way.  Judy applied the wisdom and patience she learned from living on the farm to all the other things she did in life.

She enjoyed spending time with her family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved making caramel rolls for them. She spent her time gardening, going to auctions to find and refurnish furniture, playing softball, bingo, bowling, Judy also enjoyed sewing, and crocheting.

She was a member of Circle Club, Craft Club, and Card Club. Judy enjoyed being active in her community and with her friends.

Judy is survived by her children Jey (Dawn) Johnson of San Tan Valley, AZ, Deatte (John) Engelhardt of Las Vegas, NV, and Susan (Bill) Conway of Austin, MN; four grandchildren Bridget, Brandy, Cameron, and Sydney; five great grandchildren Sophia, Hunter, Carsen, Harper and Callie. Her brother Jerome (Kathy) Hewitt, Fargo, sister Joelle Hewitt, Apache Junction, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Clyde Johnson, son Cameron, her parents Leslie and Ethel, a sister Janice, and 2 brothers James and Jeff.
