Charlotte Larson

Charlotte Larson, age 86, of Sheyenne, ND, died Thursday, July 16, 2015, in her home.

Charlotte Ida Warsing was born October 4, 1928, in hospital at Akron, Iowa. She was the second daughter of John and Estella (Bradshaw) Warsing. The family lived in Worthing, SD, where Charlotte grew up with her sister Mervyl, near many extended family members. When she was a freshman in high school, the family moved to the farm on the edge of Sheyenne, ND. She graduated from Sheyenne High School in 1946.

Charlotte was united in marriage to Bruce Wendell Larson on June 24, 1946, at their home in Sheyenne, where they farmed and ranched until 1984. In 1985, they moved to Bismarck, ND, where Bruce worked for Governor Sinner. While in Bismarck Charlotte enjoyed working at Edward D. Jones Company and the Workers’ Compensation Bureau. Upon retirement, Bruce and Charlotte moved back to Sheyenne, joined Grace Lutheran Church and spent some winter time in Arizona.

Charlotte was a member of the Congregational Church in South Dakota and was active in the Methodist Church in Sheyenne until it closed. She was an avid bowler with her name on the high series board at Wonder Lanes in New Rockford for many years, enjoying trips to bowling tourneys in Las Vegas, NV. She followed commodity markets closely, and always knew the current value of grain. Charlotte was active in Sheyenne Homemakers and the Senior Center. She enjoyed reading, movies, golfing, and playing Bingo and cards, especially Bridge. She served on the Sheyenne School Board, was active in the District 12 Democratic NPL party women’s group. Charlotte loved to travel; visiting Europe, Asia, and South America among other places. She also loved tending rose bushes and other flowers in her yard each summer.

Charlotte is survived by one daughter Judy LaBonne of Edina, MN; two sons Peter (Patti) Larson, Sheyenne and John (Andrea) Larson, Fargo, ND; four granddaughters Charlotte (Michael) Crabtree and Allison (Brian) Tighe, both of Minneapolis, MN, Joanna and Sandra Larson, both of Sheyenne; one grandson Chase Larson of Fargo; two great-granddaughters, Jane and Sally Crabtree of Minneapolis; one Sister, Mervyl Wolski, Des Plaines, IL.

Message: Sorry for your loss, Larson Family.  I think of Bruce & Charlotte every time I see Andrea on TV with the news.

Bruce & Charlotte were very special friends.  They moved to Bismarck when Governor Sinner appointed Bruce as Motor Vehicle Register.  Charlotte of course was a master volunteer for the Democratic Party in ND. Bruce, Charlotte & myself spent many hours together especially on the campaign trail.  I will miss both of them.

Message: I was saddened to read about Charlotte.  She and Bruce were wonderful people.  Charlotte worked many, many hours at the Kennedy Center and was such a wonderful help, especially during the convention.  She knew so many people and could put those name tags together like nothing.  But, most of all, she was a wonderful, kind, caring person.  I thought of Charlotte and Bruce often, after they left Bismarck, you will be missed. Rest in Peace.
