Leslie "Les" Hollingsworth

Leslie “Les� F. Hollingsworth, age 88, of Carrington, ND, died Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at Golden Acres Manor in Carrington after a brief illness.

Leslie Francis Hollingsworth was born August 6, 1922, in Sykeston ND, to Frank and Minnie (Lessner) Hollingsworth. He grew up on the family farm outside of Sykeston and attended school in Sykeston. Les served four years in the US Navy. After his discharge, he worked for Steinman Manufacturing and John Deere, both in Carrington. In 1952, Les began working for the Foster County Road Department as a blade operator and the last few years as County Foreman for a total of 27 years, retiring in 1979. After this, he began working as a finish blade operator for various road construction companies. He retired in 1989. After his retirement, he worked for various farmers in the area.

On January 23, 1950, Les was united in marriage to Velora Hansen at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Carrington. Together, they raised three children. Les was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for 60 years. He was also a life member of Bourke-Hollingsworth American Legion Post #17 in Sykeston, McCreary-Bonderud VFW Post #3524 in Carrington, and the Catholic Aid Association for 71 years.

Les will be remembered and deeply missed by his wife of 60 years, Velora of Carrington; one daughter, Rebecca Hollingsworth, Mandan, ND; two sons, Tom ( Nancy) of Mandan, and John (Michelle) of Carrington; four grandchildren, Jessica, Jacob, Daniel, Bethany; and his best friend, Coco.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rosemary.
