Arlyss Lesmeister

 

Arlyss Ann Lesmeister, age 81, of New Rockford, ND, died Wednesday, November 23, 2016, in Gilbert, AZ, due to injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident.

Arlyss Ann Nelson was born on September 30, 1935, the daughter of Roy and Georgia (Merbach, Otto) Nelson at McHenry, ND.  She graduated from Juanita High School, and then from Sisters of St. Francis School of Nursing, Minot, ND, with her RN degree.

Arlyss was united in marriage to Jerome Lesmeister at New Rockford on August 4, 1956.  From this union five children were born, Jerome, LeAnn, Kevin, Gregory and Timothy.

During her nursing years, Arlyss was employed as a RN at San Haven Tuberculosis Sanitarium, Dunseith, ND, at Anniston Memorial Hospital, Anniston, AL, Carrington Hospital, Carrington, ND, at City Hospital and Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, both of New Rockford.  She also served as Community Health Nurse for the Eddy and Foster County Health Departments, New Rockford and Carrington, and for Mohave County Health Department, Bullhead City, AZ.  Arlyss put the needs of her patients first and foremost, and she was always willing to go and help out neighbors and friends in need.   Arlyss was a true health professional.

Arlyss is survived by her five children, Jerome “Pat” (Bonnie) of Lake Havasu City, AZ, LeAnn (Michael) Tennyson, Minot, ND, Kevin, Jamestown, ND, Greg (Teresita), New Rockford, Tim (Debbie Hegg) Gwinner, ND; her 10 Grandchildren: Micah (Erin) Lesmeister, Chantal Lesmeister, Rebecca (Jacob) Berry, Chacey Lesmeister, Jared Tennyson, Whitney Tennyson, Kaleb Lesmeister, Matthew (Kelly) Lesmeister, Stephanie (Chuck Bryan) Lesmeister and Nathan (Amy) Geist; and 6 Great-Grandchildren: Nora and Camden Lesmeister, Charlotte and Cowan Berry, Brooklynn and Raelynn Geist.  Also her brother-in-law Frank Lesmeister, Albertville, AL; her nieces, Cheryl, Shirley, Karen, Kathy, Debra, and their families; and lastly by her beloved pets Boots and Smokey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jerry, brothers Larry & Roger Nelson, sister-in-law Ilene Nelson, and by her in-laws, Frank and Olivia Lesmeister.

Message: Our condolences in the death of. Your Mother and Grandmother I have known her all my life as were both raised at Juanita, ND. All the Nelson's were good friends of the Short Family.  I knew Roy and Georgia very well.  They were a very fine family. ..also Roger.
