Lawrence E. “Larry” Lesmeister age 71, of New Rockford, ND, died Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Essentia Health Center, Fargo, ND.

Larry was first born son of Edward and Agnes (McAvoy) Lesmeister in New Rockford on December 12, 1942. He grew up on a farm in Munster township of Eddy County and attended grade school there. He went to New Rockford Public School through the 8th grade.

His first job was with Gene Linderman putting up steel buildings. Over the years, he worked for Charles Richter Farming, Georgeson Spraying, Switzer Paving, Farmers Union Oil Company, Weber’s Gravel, Swift & Company, Town and County Motors, BR Chev. & Olds, and John Deere Midway Implement. He also farmed with his dad in Superior township until 1970, when he took over the farming.  Larry was united in marriage to Beverly Jensen April 24, 1970, at First Lutheran Church, New Rockford. 

Larry started driving tractor at a very young age hence forth so did his son Corey. In 1988, he moved into town and he continued to farm until 1991. Larry did mechanic work on the side while farming, operating Larry’s Repair, where his son worked with him. In the recent years, he had been doing farm work for Alfred and Anna Mae Tollefson. He enjoyed working with the cattle and helping out the neighbors any way he could.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church, an Eagles Member, and he enjoyed dancing and riding motorcycles. He was most recently CNDSTR member and enjoyed going on tractor rides, watching tractor pulls and going to Steam Thresher Reunions in ND and MN.  He and his buddy Vern Duda enjoyed going to auctions.

Larry is survived by his wife Bev of New Rockford; son Corey of Sykeston; daughter Wendy of New Rockford; brother Wayne (Char) Lesmeister of New Rockford; one sister-in-law Hilda Lesmeister of Mandan, ND; nieces, nephews and many cousins.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, infant son and brother Dale Lesmeister.
