Eugene "Buckshot" Littlewind

Eugene “Buckshot” Littlewind, age 53, of Fargo, ND, died Friday, July 1, 2016 at Sanford Health of Fargo.

Eugene Paul Littlewind, known as Buckshot, was born December 23, 1962, in Devils Lake, ND, the son of Pius and Mary (Waanatan) Littlewind.   He was the youngest boy of his nine siblings.  He attended New Rockford Elementary when he was young, and he then attended Fort Totten High School.

Eugene was a Golden Gloves Boxer on the Fort Totten Boxing Team and fought alongside his big brother Clifford.  The team traveled throughout ND, SD and Wyoming with a very successful record, and also boxed in the Olympic Trials in Las Vegas, NV.

He moved to Sioux City, IA, which he enjoyed and called home for a few years.  Eugene then returned home to Spirit Lake, and had recently moved to Fargo due to health issues.

Eugene was self-employed as a talented and unique artist known for his drawings and paintings, and has many pieces of artwork in circulation. His abilities with crafts and beadwork, including Dream Catchers, Native American jewelry, and a variety of beadwork, resulted in very fine pieces of art.

Buckshot’s favorite pastimes were playing cards, card tricks, rolling dice, chess, Dominos (Bones) and listening to the music he enjoyed. He took his nephew Marlo Two Hearts under his wing, and held close to his heart his special niece Meada Jetty, who he kept in contact with no matter where he was.

His serious side resulted in him taking a stand for himself and others who were wrongfully treated and had experienced other forms of human injustice.  He was an advocate to protect human rights wherever he lived.

Eugene’s loving family who will love and miss him forever include brothers Clifford (Georgie) Littlewind, Sylvester ‘Son” Littlewind; sisters Renita (Bud) Shaw, Marsha Martin; nieces and nephews he cherished dearly: Michelle “Mickey” Two Hearts, Lavetta (Fox) Littlewind, Luann Littlewind, Nicole Littlewind, Holly Littlewind, Meada Jetty, Sara Thumb, Jodie Olson, Sarah Olson, Connie Charboneau, Melissa Littlewind, Keanu Martin, Blanche Martin, Marlo Two Hearts, Cornell Kirk, Clifton Rainbow, Denver Littlewind, Whalen Shaw, Jr., Gandi Shaw, Andrew Shaw, Bryer Shaw, Matthew Littlewind, Lil Son Littlewind, Kellan Littlewind, Christian Martin; aunts and uncles: Pauline Greywater, Helena Littleghost, Inez “Elaine” Robertson, Elizabeth Libby Littleghost, Arlene Gomez, Maxine Peltier, Judi Ami, Lorraine Greybear, Millicent Little, Leroy Littleghost, John Chaske and Winfield Chaske.

Buckshot was preceded in death by his parents, Pius and Mary; a brother Alfred; sisters Marla Kirk, Carol Olson, Martha Robertson; paternal grandparents Joseph “Grampsie” and Martha (High Elk) Littlewind, his Maternal grandparents; nieces Jenny Thompson, Michelle Littlewind, Mary Littlewind, Mary Two Hearts; and nephews Fabian Littlewind and Tobias Shaw.
