Vivian Longnecker

Vivian Longnecker passed away peacefully on December 7, 2017, at Golden Acres Manor, Carrington, ND, with family by her side.

Vivian Frances Jasman was born to Robert and Ida (Almer) Jasman April 1, 1924, in Goodrich, ND.  Being an April Fools Baby she had a great sense of humor and was known to pull a prank or two.  She had one brother, Larry, and one sister, Verna.  She attended school in the Heaton area through the eighth grade.  As a teenager her family moved to New Rockford where she met her husband of 76 years, Ervin.  They were married in a double ceremony with Herb and Donna Koepplin, in Sheyenne, ND on September 1, 1941.

After living at three area farmsteads, they made their home at their current residence of 68 years.  Vivian settled into farm life and became a devoted homemaker, wife and mother who loved her boys.  She was known for her cooking, no one ever went away from her table hungry.  There was no shortage of home cooked meat, potatoes and vegetables all covered with gravy, butter and cream.  Vivian had a green thumb and could grow any type of flower or vegetable.  Along with gardening came canning and preserving, making sure everyone was fed all year long.  Vivian enjoyed raising chickens.  She loved sewing and craft making of all kinds including beadwork and macrame.

Vivian had hands that were strong enough to do any task required but also so loving when needed.  Her generosity was endless and her heart was genuine.  She belonged to the local Homeakers Club, was a member of First Lutheran Church and a circle member.  Through the years, Vivian and Ervin enjoyed playing cards with neighbors, working hard and playing hard, fishing and spending time with their grandchildren.

Vivian is survived by her husband, Ervin, and two sons, Merle (Sandy) and Roger (Patti), both of New Rockford.  She loved her eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by two sons Dennis and Charles, her parents and her two siblings Larry Jasman and Verna Ingwaldson.
