Cecelia Malinski

Cecelia Malinski, age 93, of Carrington, ND, died November 15, 2016, at CHI, St. Alexius, Carrington.

Cecelia “Cedy” Lira was born February 20, 1923, in Kensal, ND, the daughter of Thomas and Anne (Blaskowski) Lira. She grew up in Fried, ND, and graduated from Jamestown High School.

Cedy was united in marriage to Chester Malinski on December 28, 1942, at Sykeston, ND.  They had custom combined for many years until Chester retired. After he passed away July 25, 1990, she moved into Carrington. Cedy then worked at several businesses, the VFW for 16 years and Cenex for 19 years. Cedy had fallen and couldn’t return to work, and so she finally retired at the age of 91.

She belonged to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altar Society, CHC Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was always making pickles for everyone to enjoy, and was teased that they were going to put “Pickle Lady” on her tombstone.

Cedy is survived by her daughter Sharon (Bernell) Neumiller, of Carrington, five granddaughters ; Lisa (Ed) Dunevant, Temecula, CA, Michele Grager, Carrington, Bobbi Jo (Bill) Lemer, Stanton, ND, Kristee (Michael) Page, Carrington, and Tara Bruns, Shakopee, MN; 15 great-grandchildren: Brandon, Michael, Jordan, Danielle, Dylon, Colton, Preston, Shelby, Callie, Easton, Josey, Gracie, Drew, Luke, and Jackson; and 9 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters; Alice Cumber, West Fargo, Rita DeLair, Gladstone, OR, Josie Stampka, Jamestown, and many nieces and nephews.

 

Preceded in death by her husband, Chester; her parents; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

 

ROSARY & VIGIL SERVICE: Monday (Nov 21st) with Rosary at 6:45PM and Vigil Service at 7PM, Evans Funeral Home, Cgtn.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Carrington, ND
