Message: Heard about Mike and it just broke my heart. He was a terrific kid and his class was one of my very favorites in the years I taught. I recall the grade tournament when Mike was an eighth grader. We played near perfect basketball. Wing had a wonderful team and beat us in a close and extremely well played game but we got in high gear scoring 70 something and beating Buccanen for third, a team that had beaten us earlier. Leon and Dannie wowed the crowd with perimeter shooting as one would expect, but it was Mike and Mark's aggressive and intelligent play underneath that gave us the balance to compete against those excellent teams. Those two feared nobody. Rookies Bruce S and Neil G alternated and played well, also. I was so proud of the way we played. Mike's mother complimenting our play afterward was akin to receiving a compliment on my own children or grandchildren as those boys on that team were such little sweethearts and so dear to me. Beautiful, beautiful boy, Mike was.
