Natalie "Tally" Paulson

 

Natalie “Tally” C. Paulson, age 91, of Carrington, ND, died Friday, November 20, 2015, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, ND.

 

Natalie Caroline Neuman was born on January 16, 1924, the daughter of William and Magdalena (Klein) Neuman on the family farm near Cathay, ND. She grew up on the farm and attended Cathay School where she later graduated. Tally continued her education at Valley City Teachers College (VCSU)  and taught school for two years.

 

On October 20, 1946, Natalie was united in marriage to John Paulson at Calvary Baptist Church in Carrington. Upon her children growing up, Tally later went back to working with children at Carrington Elementary for many more years. Tally was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church; she taught Sunday School and organized the children’s Christmas programs for many years.

 

She enjoyed working in her garden with John. Her true passions in gardening were her raspberry and rose bushes. Tally also enjoyed listening to classical music and reading. She loved spending time with her beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

Natalie is survived by her three children, Miles (Bonnie) Paulson, Manning, ND, Arlys (Dale) Williams, Chinook, MT, and Douglas Paulson, Manning, ND; four grandchildren, Craig (Katie) Paulson, Shelley Paulson, Annalena (Wayne) Hastriter and Aubrey Williams; three great-grandchildren, Max, Lucas and Nora Paulson; one sister Ann Marie (Erling) Boeck; two brothers William Jr. (Virginia) Neuman, Clifford (Dee) Neuman; and one sister-in-law Malvina Neuman.

 

She was greeted in heaven by her husband John; her parents William and Magdalena; four brothers, Ervin, Warner, Herman, Wesley Neuman; two sisters, Regina “Ann” Kurzweg and Selma Berg.

Message: Tally was family.  She was a strong and caring woman, with a good sense of humor.  Her pragmatic way of viewing the world was both optimistic and realistic.  She worked hard and reaped the benefits of that hard work as witnessed in her legacy.  Although we did not see or talk to each other often, when we did it was as if no time had passed.  She will be missed.
