Florestine Peltier

Florestine Peltier, “Canté Wáste Win” (Good Hearted Woman), age 64, of Ft. Totten, ND, left to the Spirit World on Thursday, March 19, 2015, in her home with all her loving family and friends.

Florestine Cecilia Peltier was born May 30, 1950, in Ft. Totten, the daughter of John and Gladys (Adams) Peltier. She attended school till the 8th grade in Ft. Totten then high school in Maddock, ND and Flandreau, SD. She came home and received her GED in 1972.  She worked as a LPN in Jamestown, ND at the state hospital and various other jobs through United Tribes and Spirit Lake Tribe.

She loved Elvis, Rock N Roll, Oldies and listening to Miss Fancy in the morning KABU. She enjoyed playing Bingo, Slot Machines (Medusa) Skipbo, Aggravation, Pinochle, and Yahtzee. She also loved spending time with her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Florestine enjoyed visiting friends at the casino.

Florestine was a strong independent woman. She raised her 3 children on her own. She was a generous person, she helped anyone in need.

Florestine is survived by her son Shane Peltier; daughter Corrinne Thumb; adopted sons Ralph Peoples and Philip Alberts  Sr.; sisters Edith Peltier, Andrea Peltier, and Lorna (Greg) Hoffner; brothers Richard Peltier, Soloman Peltier, Ivan Lovejoy Sr.; grandchildren Marcus Peltier, Mariah Peltier, Gladys Cavanaugh, Meggie Champagne, Thayne Bell Jr., great-grandchildren Liam Swiftbird, Mason Swiftbird, Keith Cavanaugh, Cody Vifale; godchildren Janet Diaz, Jason Littlewind, Delwyn Littlewind, Shannon Peltier, aunts Katherine Howard and Eva Peltier, uncles Fred Peltier Sr., Clifford Peltier Sr., god brother David Sherman god sisters Rosita McKay, Nikkei Buckles and Rayonne Sherman. Also by Diane Peoples a special friend and nieces Sharon Feather and Faith Ducheneaux.

She was preceded in death by parents John and Gladys Peltier, son Keith Champagne, brothers John Peltier Jr. Jerome Peltier, Fredrick Peltier, Lawrence Peltier, Nephew Phillip Krulish, sisters Lois Littlewind, Julia Peltier, and other extended family.
