Emma Pulver

Emma Pulver, 97, of Carrington, ND, died Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Golden Acres Manor, Carrington, ND.

Emma E. Pulver was born in Max, ND, on October 5, 1917, to Andrew and Marie (Roth) Broneske. At the age of twelve she went to live with her aunt and uncle, Albert and Susie Broschat of Cathay; graduating from Cathay High School in 1936. During her high school years she worked in the school office and part-time at the Northwest Bell Telephone central station in Cathay. After graduation, she worked at numerous places, including the Glenn L. Martin fighter plane plant in Omaha, NE, as a “Rosie the Riveter”.

Emma was employed at the Social Service office as clerk/typist and office administrator. She was also a Brownie Scout leader for several years. When Albert passed away on December 17, 1959, Emma and her family moved to Underwood, ND, where she worked as the school secretary. She also served as secretary of the Earl Koenig VFW auxiliary in Underwood for six years and became a lifetime member.

On April 20, 1968, she married Ed Pulver.  They owned and operated Pulver Sanitation which served eleven towns. They enjoyed their years’ operating the business; Emma as secretary-treasurer and Ed as operator and manager. They retired in 1989. When Ed passed away on August 8, 2001, Emma moved to Carrington to be closer to her children.

Emma is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Shirley) Fritza, Carrington, Rose Mary (Darrell) Ringenberg, Brinsmade, ND; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; five step grandchildren; two brothers Paul, Longmont, CO, and Walter, Fargo, ND.
