Ralph Schlotman

Ralph Schlotman, age 84, of Carrington, ND, died Monday, May 2, 2011, at Carrington Health Center, Carrington.

Ralph Earl Schlotman was born on October 11, 1926, the son of John and Gertrude (Whipple) Schlotman near Grace City, ND, where he grew up and received his education.

On November 5, 1947, Ralph was united in marriage to Helen Bata at St. John’s Catholic Church in Kensal, ND. They lived and farmed in Haven Township in Foster County on the family homestead. They moved from the farm to Carrington in 2001.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Carrington, and served on the Grace City School Board. Ralph was President of the Circle Trail Riders in New Rockford, ND, and served as a member for 32 years. He was a member of the 7th Calvary and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in New Rockford. Ralph enjoyed everything about horses which included taking his grandchildren on trail rides with his team and wagon and teaching them how to ride. He also gave sleigh rides for Santa Claus Day.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Helen; three sons, Roger (Vicki), Carrington, Robert (Elizabeth), Rapid City, SD, and Randy (Sue), Grand Forks, ND; a daughter, Dianne (Robin) Schlotman, Vergus, MN; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Schoen, Hanford, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and two sisters.

Message: This will be my second post, but I am doing so because myself, my wife, and my son came to the funeral. It was so wonderful to meet so many family I had not met/or do not remember. If I would have known I had so many relatives in Carrington, I would stop by more often:) It was also so wonderful to meet freinds of the family.
