Mavis Roberts

Mavis Roberts, age 83, of New Rockford, ND, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Golden Acres Manor in Carrington, ND.

Mavis Lucille Anderson was born June 6, 1933, in Underwood, ND, and was the 3rd child born to Leroy and Martha (Trygstad) Anderson.   She attended a rural school in Goodrich, ND, through the 8th grade.   Mavis was united in marriage to Harold Roberts on February 25, 1951, in Lincoln Valley, ND. They made their home in Lincoln Valley until 1961, when they moved to Goodrich, ND.  The family moved to Hannaford, ND, in 1972, and in 1974, they moved to New Rockford, ND.  Together Harold and Mavis raised 7 children.

While living in New Rockford, Mavis started working as a nurse’s assistant at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in 1975.  She retired from LHGS in 1994. She then went to work part time at 4th Corporation and truly loved her ICF clients and coworkers. Harold passed away in February of 2000. In 2009, she retired from 4th Corporation. Mavis entered Golden Acres Manor in Carrington in September of 2009, where she resided until her passing.

Her true joy was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was the mom and grandma that everyone hoped for, always there with a smile, hug, kind words or a sweet treat. She was a very good cook and baker, always ensuring everyone had plenty to eat. She also did a lot of quilting, canning and sewing. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in New Rockford and had served on the Helping Hands committee.

Message: To Mavis's family,

I am so sorry for the loss of Mavis, a truly wonderful woman. I used to stop and visit her when I was in New Rockford to see my dad. She was always so nice and showed genuine interest in how we were doing and things were going.  I thought of her as a mother figure, and that meant a lot to me since my mom has been gone.  I really enjoyed my visits with her.  Even through the years, she was was able to remember a lot about my siblings and where they were living.  I was always impressed with that!!  She was a great lady. I am thinking of all of you at this time and you are in my prayers.
