Kermit Skadberg

Kermit Skadberg, age 82, of Barlow, ND died Thursday, January 8, 2015, under the care of Hospice

Kermit Skadberg was born to John and Mamie Skadberg on January 30, 1932, on the family farm. He graduated from Carrington High School in 1950.

In December 1951, he married Jeanette Veen, who he had declared to his family 15 years earlier that he was going to marry her someday. They moved back to the family farm where he had grown up, and they farmed together for forty years. In 1991 they retired and moved to Gold Canyon.

He was an active member of Stavanger Lutheran Church, Cathay, ND, and of Trinity Lutheran Church, Carrington, and many other farm organizations in the community.  Kermit was named North Dakota Outstanding Young Farmer in 1966. He loved farming, being a 100% Norwegian, and he loved games, especially when he was winning. Some of his favorite activities were skiing, golf, sailing, biking and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed playing in his two pinochle groups.

Kermit is survived by his wife, Jeanette Skadberg, Gold Canyon; six children; Douglas (Melody) Skadberg, New Rockford, ND;  Penne (Rick) Rader, San Antonio, TX; Paul (Ginger) Skadberg, Carrington; Todd Skadberg, Las Vegas, NV; Sara (Thomas) Herzog, Denver, CO; Steven Skadberg, Long Beach, CA; eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren;  three sisters; Arlys Harmon, Carrington; Judy (Ron) Semmens, Mayville, ND; Sonja Shannon, Rapid City, SD and a sister-in-law; Patti Skadberg, Carrington.

Preceding him in death were his parents; John and Mamie Skadberg and his four brothers; Stanley, Jerrold, Marvin and James Skadberg. Following Kermit's passing, his brother-in-law Ralph Harmon has also died.
