Anne Speldrich

Anne Speldrich, 87, of Sykeston, ND, died Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Golden Acres Manor, Carrington, ND.

Anne Margurite Zimprich was born July 9, 1927, one of 6 children born to Joseph J. and Anna (Fiebiger) Zimprich at rural Aneta, ND. She was raised near Aneta, where her parents and siblings farmed on one of the largest farmsteads in Nelson County. She grew up in a strong Catholic family in a primarily Catholic community. She loved music, dancing and enjoyed singing praise in church.

Anne had a strong bond with all of her siblings, but an especially close relationship to Mary Jane - the two girls were referred to as "the spice" in the family, as they were always full of comedy and liveliness.  After Anne graduated from country school, the government had sent many of the men to war and many of the women had to handle the farms and such, thus,  Anne was asked to teach at the school where 2 of her sisters taught. She taught and drove school bus for several years.

Anne was united in marriage to Eugene Speldrich on June 20, 1950, in Aneta.  Together they had 3 sons - Lawrence Eugene, David Michael, and Vernon Leroy. In the late 1970's, Gene and Anne moved the family to Fairfield, ND to work in the oilfields. Gene drove water truck in the oilfields; Anne also drove truck, as well as, helped with all the book work. She even taught her oldest son, Lawrence, how to drive truck. Gene died June 6, 1993.   Anne moved back to Sykeston in 1997, and lived out the rest of her years where her life had begun, 87 years earlier.

Anne had an especially notable reputation for having a huge heart, she was always helping those in need, and she never denied anyone of her time and kindness.  Smart, dedicated, creative, and humorous where words that were often used when speaking of Anne. She was a devout Catholic woman and always had a rosary nearby. She knew the importance of hard work and always doing what’s right, and her life has always reflected that of integrity and righteousness.

Anne was a very loving wife and mother, beloved grandmother to all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a cherished Godmother, aunt, sibling, neighbor and friend in every person's life that was lucky enough to know her. She will be greatly missed, but the legacy of love and kindness she leaves behind will carry on for many generations to come.

She is survived by three sons, Lawrence of Sidney, MT, David of Sykeston, Vernon of Oakes, ND; 10  Grandchildren and 11  Great-Grandchildren.

Anne was preceded in death by her husband Eugene; her parents; and five siblings: Rozella, Mary Jane, Joyce, Joseph, and Edward.
