Doris "Dory" Thompson

Doris Thompson, age 83, of Fargo, formerly of New Rockford, ND, passed away April 22, 2018, at Elim Care in Fargo, ND under hospice care.


Doris Jean Lucht was born on January 5, 1935, to John H. and Alma Lucht in New Rockford. She graduated from New Rockford High School in 1953.


On December 6th 1953, she married Malcolm (Mick) Thompson and made their home in New Rockford. She worked for over 55 years until her retirement in 2008 for numerous Eddy County offices, including, County Agent, Soil conservation, Tax Equalization, and the Sheriff’s office. She also did the bookkeeping for their business, Mick’s 281 Service.


She was an active member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church. In her spare time, Dory loved to garden and raised her 6 children, Michael, Wayne, Ken, Deb, Rod and David.


She is survived by her 6 children: Mike (Jill), Binford; Wayne (Lori), Murray, Utah; Ken (Luann), New Rockford; Deborah, Fargo; Rodney (Karen), West Fargo; and David (Karen), Franktown, Colorado; 12 Grandchildren: Nolan (Ellen), Ashlee (Jay), Tase, Taylor, Jared (Andrea), Kimberly (Aaron), Nicholas (Jessalyn), Nathan (Tyza), Rusty (Charolotte), Dakotah, Kaitlyn, and Jack; 9 Great Grandchildren: Kendra, Quinn, Gavyn, Zayne, Allie, Dominic, Kane, Corbin, and Remick; one brother, Martin (Eloise), and several nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Erna and Ruby, and brother Earl.

Prairie Home Cemetery of New Rockford

or Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Visitation: Thursday 9PM – 5PM in Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford, ND, and will continue from 6PM – 7PM in the church.

Prayer Service: 7:00PM in First Lutheran Church, New Rockford.

Funeral Service: Friday, April 27, 2018, at 10:30AM in First Lutheran Church.

Burial: Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford.
