Charles Watson

Charles Watson, age 82, of Carrington, ND, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, September 1, 2014, in his home in Carrington of  lung disease.

Charles Henry Watson was born on June 2, 1932, in rural Sykeston, ND, the son of James and Marie (Parkhill) Watson. He grew up in rural Sykeston and attended Hebron Consolidated School and Carrington High School. Charles joined the Army at the age of 17 during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged March of 1957. He was very proud to serve his country.

Charles was united in marriage on November 28, 1957,  to Mary Ann Okert in Carrington. They moved to Tulsa, OK, where he received his diploma as an airline service mechanic from Spartan School of Aeronautics in 1959. Charles worked for Airlines in Huron, SD, and Minneapolis, MN. Charles and Mary Ann moved back to Carrington where they farmed in rural Carrington until his retirement in 1997. They moved into Carrington in 2002.

Charles loved his life of farming, raising his Black Angus and wood working. He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Carrington.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ann of Carrington; daughter Karen (Randy) Kinzler of Jamestown, ND; son Douglas (Rhonda) Watson of Boise, ID; four granddaughters Nicole (Kip) Studaker of Richfield, MN, Nanette Lanenga of Jamestown, Mallory and La’el Watson of Boise, ID; three step-granddaughters Mandy, Diana and Sarah of West Virginia; three great-grandchildren Devershawn, Arianna and Jordan of Jamestown, ND; three sisters Ruth (Magnus) Johnson of Carrington, Betty (Joe) Holzer of Harvey, ND, and Mary ( John) Halverson of Alexandria, MN; one brother Kenneth (Freida) Watson of Carrington; one sister-in-law Betty Jane Watson of Carrington; and many nieces and nephews.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Jim Watson, two sisters Alice Schwab and Dorothy Folkert.
