Vivian Whetham

Vivian A. Whetham, age 77, of New Rockford, ND, died Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Sanford Health, Bismarck, ND.

Vivian A. Koplin was born in Perham Hospital, Perham, MN, on June 19, 1936, the daughter of Elmer and Olga (Dunker) Koplin. She grew up on a farm near New York Mills, MN, and graduated from high school in 1954, at New York Mills.

She worked as a nurse’s aide at Perham Hospital until August 1956. On August 24, 1956, Vivian was united in marriage to Mervin “Micky� Whetham, at First Lutheran Church, New Rockford. They moved to Glascow, MT where she worked as a nurse’s aide. In February of 1961 they moved back to New Rockford and began farming west of New Rockford.

She worked as a nurse’s aide at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in the early 60’s, then at City Hospital where she received her LPN. She returned to Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd as an LPN and worked there over 30 years until she retired in 2012. Micky Whetham had died on June 20, 1998.

She served with the New Rockford Community Ambulance Service as an EMT, and was a charter member of the New Rockford Eagles Auxilary.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Kay Evenson (Christian Kuleck), Bismarck, Janet (Ron) Sinkler, and Kathy (Milo) Schuster, both of New Rockford; one son, Leslie (Geneva) Whetham, St. Paul, MN; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; one sister, Mary Ann Dertinger of New York Mills; 2 brothers, Tom (Sue) Koplin, Avon, MN, and Marvin (Virginia) Koplin, Perham, MN.

Vivian was preceded in death by her husband Mervin, her parents, and 6 brothers, James, Robert, Melvin, Ralph, Leonard and baby LeRoy.

VISITATION:

Tuesday, March 18th, 4PM-7PM, with family present to receive friends, Evans FH, NR

FUNERAL SERVICE:

First Lutheran Church, New Rockford, ND

DATE AND TIME:

Wednesday, March 19th at 1:00PM

BURIAL:

Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford, ND

Message: I am sorry to hear about Vivian's passing. I didn't know her very well, but she was a great lady!! She will be missed by everybody that has gotten the pleasure of knowing her.
